It's time we celebrate Night Auditors: The unsung heros of hospitality
with Jason Freed and Eduardo Burkard from MDO, on the Hospitality Daily Podcast
The Night Auditor plays a vital, yet often overlooked role in running a hotel. In this episode, Jason Freed and Eduardo Burkard from MDO discuss the range of responsibilities this role typically covers while working overnight: from checking people in to covering the kitchen to processing important data for every function of the hotel.
While the working hours and wide range of jobs to be done can be tough, this role is often where hotel leaders begin their careers, as it provides exposure to all areas of the business.
Jason, Eduardo, and the team at MDO are organizing a campaign to help us show appreciation for these critical members of the hospitality industry, and in this episode share ideas for celebrating and showing appreciation for the people working in this role.

TRENDS
Americans are setting vacation records
by Bryan Mena for CNN
“It’s become less ‘revenge travel’ and more of a lifestyle in terms of sort of a generational shift in the prioritization of in-person experiences over goods,” said Jeanelle Johnson, partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. “People feel priced out of the housing market and as a result, they’re shifting to spending more on things that bring you joy in the moment.”
TRENDS
Hotel housekeepers want your room cleaned every day
by Andrea Hsu for NPR
"We think the industry is attempting to change guests' behavior based on the pandemic, and we think that's bad for everyone,” said Ted Pappageorge. “Customers are still paying for first-class service and first-class rooms, but not getting the first-class service."
TRENDS
The evolution of global luxury hospitality
by Alli Semans and Zach Demuth for JLL Hotels
As the world’s wealth continues to grow, expect the luxury travel segment to transform further as traditional hotel brands look to own the entire traveler experience. Luxury hotels have the potential to transcend beyond simply places to sleep and become an immersive part of life thereby creating new opportunities for investment.
