Rethinking hospitality culture
Donte Johnson and Jason Bass, Revival Baltimore
Donte Johnson (IG: @TheHoodieHotelier) and Jason Bass (IG: @JasonCBass) at Revival Baltimore shared so much with us over the past week, I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss it. These episodes are so good I’ve probably replayed each episode a dozen times as I’ve been processing what they’ve shared.
You can describe certain parts of culture but at the heart of it, it’s more of an art than science. It’s a feeling when you walk into a space.
There are hotels and restaurants that are incredibly well staffed and those tend to be the places where people are inspired, cared for, and compensated well.
There's nothing the same in our day-to-day lives that's the same as 50 years ago, except for 45% of every hotel employee handbook.
If we've got it dialed in from a recruiting perspective, the people in the building will look like the people outside the building.
We have an opportunity in hospitality to create intersection that most other businesses don’t have.
I wanted to create an iconic brand, and iconic brands aren’t built by following others. Today, people see Revival as a fundamentally different thing from anything else on the market.
